-
A cutaneous eruption, characterized by large round pustules, always distinct and seated upon an indurated and highly inflamed base. In the course of a day or two the pustules generally break, and olive-brown incrustations are formed which adhere firmly to the skin. These separate in about a fortnight. The disease requires the antiphlogistic treatment. Under the Ecthymata, Vogel has designated certain hard, unequal tumours which appear transitorily on the skin. See Efflorescence, Exanthem, and Pustule.
