A test for uric acid in the blood. One or two drams of blood serum are put into a flat dish and six minims of strong acetic acid are added to each dram of serum; a fine thread is then introduced into the fluid and the uric acid crystallizes on it within forty-eight hours.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
