[L., Gr.] Rock-goat. (Zool.) Capra ibex, an Alpine and Pyrenean spec, moderately gregarious. The adult male is about two feet eight inches high at the shoulder; reddish brown in summer, grey in winter; the horns are sometimes three feet long. Sub-fam. Caprinae, fam. Boviate, ord. Ungulata.
