Ord. Rutaceae. Sex. Syst. Decandria Monogynia. The plant has a strong, ungrateful odour, and bitter pungent taste. It is acrid, so as to blister the skin. Its properties are reputed to be tonic, stimulant, antispasmodic, and emmenagogue. The leaves are officinal-Ruta. (Ph. U. S.)
